Skogfjorden, Turtle River Lake, 12 miles/19 km northeast
of Bemidji, Minnesota.
The Norwegian Language Village has a spacious dining
hall, Gimle, that features beautiful rosemaling on the
ceiling, a fireplace, and small and large meeting rooms.
Valhall also offers meeting rooms. Utgard, the activity
building, offers gymnasium facilities and meeting areas in
the upper level. Participants live in nine, three-bedroom
cabins which house up to eight people. Lower bunks are used
for sleeping. Most cabins are two-story with spiral
staircases and shared common bathroom/shower facilities. A
cozy living area is on the main floor of each cabin.
Meals reflect the cuisine of the countries represented
by the Language Villages. Lunch and dinner are served family
style with breakfast served cafeteria style or buffet. The
breads, pastries and desserts are home-baked, adding an
ethnic flair not easily found elsewhere.
